Visiting Scholar Program

The Purpose: To identify and select individuals who have the potential for establishing and/or directing interdisciplinary team care for comprehensive management of individuals with craniofacial anomalies in their home country and provide the selected scholar(s) with an educational experience in the treatment of craniofacial and cleft anomalies at ACPA recognized cleft palate and craniofacial centers.

The Method: ACPA members who travel internationally identify local practitioners who possess significant potential to impact the delivery of team care in their home region. The ACPA member encourages the local practioner to apply for this scholarship and volunteers to act as the ACPA Sponsor. The ACPA Sponsor calls upon his or her US and Canadian contacts to develop an itinerarythrough which the Candidate, if chosen, can observe the delivery of interdisciplinary cleft care for a week at each of three different Host Centers. The Visiting Scholar's visit culminates with a week at the ACPA annual meeting.
